Shower is leaking

Tile showers are real popular today. If you don't hire someone that knows what they are doing it can be a big mistake. Today everyone thinks they are a tile setter. If the shower pan is not installed right you end up with this.

This can get real expensive. Every time you take a shower it is doing damage and you will not see it till it is to late. Don't let this happen to you. Call someone that has at less 10 years exp or more.
Look for cracks in your grout. If you see cracks this could be happening to you. You can get a tube of silicon caulking and caulk all the inside corners and around the bottom of the shower. That will help it until it can be repaired.
This shower was in real bad shape. It had been leaking for years.

First we will have to take all the tile out at the bottom of the shower,  then take out all the rot. Make sure all the rotten wood is removed. Rotten wood is like rust, it will spread. Then we need to install all new wood to the walls, then install 3/4 plywood to the floor. A lot of guys I see today installs Green Board on the walls of showers. I am 100% against that, always use Duroc or Hardie backer Board. I prefer Hardie backer. It is easy to cut with the right tool, and it is cleaner. No dust.

The next step is putting a shower pan in and a mud bed. After that install the tile back. Then you might run into problems there. Depending on how old your tile is you might not match it up perfect.
So you will have to settle for something close to your color and style.
